Who we are
Hi, I’m Jordan Howarth, the founder and lead therapist here at CBT Clinics Northwest.
I’ve been working in the mental health space for over a decade, supporting and helping people make change — people who may be feeling stuck, weighed down by stress, or struggling to make sense of difficult emotions. I specialise in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and I am a fully accredited member of the BABCP, but I offer other modalities such as Mindfulness-based approaches and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Therapy isn’t about fitting you into a formula; it’s about understanding your experiences, your challenges, and your goals, and working together to find a way forward that feels right for you.
I started this practice because I care about helping people. Whether it’s anxiety, depression, unresolved trauma, or just a sense that life isn’t quite working the way you want it to, I want to help you focus on your strengths and build a life that feels meaningful and balanced. Through my years of experience, I have helped countless individuals overcome difficulties, from Social Anxiety to OCD, low self-esteem to perfectionism and beyond, I prioritise putting people first to make the change that matters.
My style of therapy is collaborative and my belief is that therapy isn’t something I do to you; it’s something we do together. We’ll work as a team to make sense of what’s going on and find ways to move forward. My approach is about giving you skills you can use in your everyday life—not just while we’re working together, but long after our sessions have ended, think of it like being taught to become your own therapist. When you work with me, you can expect to have a safe space to talk, you won’t be judged here. I want you to feel at ease sharing whatever’s on your mind and whatever it is you have been going through.
What I love most about being a therapist is seeing the small but powerful shifts that happen when people begin to feel better, when they feel more confident, and more in control of their lives. It’s not always easy, but it’s always worth it—and the important thing is that you don’t have to do it alone.
I am able to offer appointment either online via secure video platform or face-to-face at my clinic space located on Golborne High Street, Wigan. Feel free to contact me to discuss these options or to book in a free 15-minute consultation.
